Got a first date with that hunk of your office? You might be excited from top to toe! Freeze! Don’t let your excitement make you commit common beauty faux pas. At times, in a bid to impress him you end up creating an over-the-top look, which depresses instead of impressing.

Avoid…avoid…
Too much makeup is a big NO. Please, you are dating a human! He also has his own imperfections and insecurities (who doesn’t?). Go easy on foundation, blusher, eye liner, and lip color. You don’t want to appear a clown or scare him off with bleeding red lips! Let your natural beauty speak, not your makeup or cream.

Well, men claim to be strong creatures, but when they see long, pointy nails with crazy colors, the sight may scare them. Why it happens is best left to scientists to research upon; but as for now, please keep your nails short and round or square. If you love long, keep them blunt. Choose impressive colors.

Ladies, please go easy on your hair mousse or spray. A common beauty faux is stiff hair. They are repulsive on the first date…even later. Let your hair be soft, lustrous, and inviting. The night before your date, oil them. After an hour, wash them with a suitable shampoo. Then air-dry them. When slightly damp, comb them gently and tie them loosely in braids. Sleep over. In the morning, untie the braids and stun yourselves and your date with sexy curls on your mane!

Extra long eyelashes are a mistake. They repel, instead of attracting. He wants to sink into the depth of your eyes, not get tangled in those spidery lashes!

Increase your knowledge about beauty, the right makeup, use of cream, and other tips to look attractive. It should be about enhancing your beauty, not changing your natural looks. Be what you are. Remember; he wants to date you, not your makeup.

Lipstick gets high staying power provided you apply it correctly. Take some time, maybe two minutes, and create a seductive pout. Certain women are in a habit of gliding their lip stick in a rush, from one corner of lips to another, and done. How discouraging!

Smart lipstick rules
• Choose the right lip color that complements your skin tone.

Lipstick rules that never go out of style.• Exfoliate lips first. It removes dead cell layer and brings out fresh, pink lips. Brown sugar and honey mixture acts as a good scrub.

• Moisturize them. Use a good quality lip balm.

• Apply primer on lips. Herein lay the secret for increasing lipstick staying power for hours. Primer also prevents fading and smudging of lip color.

• Line your lips with a clear lip liner. Lip liners prevent bleeding of lip color. Do you know there are nude lip pencils? Enough of wasting time in trying to match lip liner with lip color. Use nude.

• Apply lip color. Begin at the center of your lips. Either apply directly from the stick or use a lip brush. This is the secret to your favorite star’s perfectly done pout. As you reach the corners, your hand becomes steady and there are less chances of your lipstick going out of the line.

• Blot with a tissue to remove excess color. Apply again, if needed.

• To get a sexy pout, dab some lip gloss at the lower center of your lip.

Follow the above lipstick rules and save yourself from the embarrassment of bleeding color or smudged lipstick or other.

Apply red lipstick the same way. Make sure you choose the right red shade. Warm skin tones carry darker shades of red better, such as plum, wine, maroon, and towards browns. Cool skin tones are happy with brighter reds like cherry, crimson, and towards pinks and oranges.
